This map shows the towns and villages that have been ethnically cleansed and/or destroyed during or since 1948. It does not include the towns and villages of the West Bank and Gaza that have been ethnically cleansed and/or destroyed during or since the 1967 invasion by Israel. The blue line marks the outrageous United Nations division of Palestine into Arab and Jewish parts. Originally, the plan was only to take and ethnically cleanse the part of Palestine assigned to the Jews by the immoral United Nations decision (this plan was officially called Plan Dalet). This is why quite a few towns outside the proposed Jewish section, but conquered by the Jews in 1948, were not ethnically cleansed. This mistake (in judgment as to what the world would let them get away with) meant that Israel began life with a much larger Arab population than anticipated (about 160,000 (this was still a relatively small number, but much larger than the hoped for number, of zero)).
