With WTC Seven pre-rigged with explosives, its "collapse" was planned by the conspirators, who must have had some cover story. It is likely that this cover story was to be the same as that of the Towers, namely: Plane hits Tower, burns for a few minutes, then falls down.
So, what happened? Perhaps, the third plane was flight 93, which mal-functioned in some way and was shot down, leaving WTC Seven without a reason to "collapse". Perhaps, the large, extremely unlikely loop in its route was simply fabricated in order to get the times right, after having it shot-down.
We can be fairly certain that the second cover story was fabricated on the day, as the attempts to start fires in WTC Seven, were mostly unsuccessful, and the building had to be "collapsed," without a credible cover story, later in the afternoon (5:20 pm) rather than sometime around 10 am as probably planned.
